8760 Inc.’s InsideAgent for Energy, formerly known as GISBAgent, has been successfully implemented by PPL Corporation.
In all, over 40 energy distribution and marketing companies throughout the nation have implemented InsideAgent for Energy, the most widely used method for exchanging mission-critical data between deregulated electric and gas utilities and their trading partners over the Internet. InsideAgent for Energy is the only software solution that has received 1.5 certification from the North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB), formerly the Gas Industry Standards Board (GISB).
Craig Roth, PPL’s supervisor–information solutions, said of InsideAgent for Energy, “We’ve found the product to be very user friendly and not requiring any additional resources to set up and administer.”
Roth said that post-installation support from 8760 Inc. has also been “very positive” and migration of trading partners “proceeded smoothly and easier than expected.”
Jim Buccigross, vice president of 8760 Inc.’s energy practice, said, “We’re pleased that PPL chose the security and reliability of InsideAgent for Energy. Once again, this product has proved its value for all participants in deregulated gas and electricity markets, whether they’re traditional utilities or energy marketers.
“This is also a further demonstration of the importance of NAESB standards for competitive energy markets,” said Buccigross, who chairs the NAESB Executive Committee. “GISB’s evolution into NAESB is certain to benefit all segments of the converging energy marketplace.”
PPL Corporation, headquartered in Allentown, Pa., controls or owns more than 10,000 megawatts of generating capacity in the United States, markets energy in select U.S. states and Canada, and delivers electricity to nearly 6 million customers in Pennsylvania, the United Kingdom and Latin America.
8760 Inc. has been helping energy companies leverage technological and regulatory changes since 1996. Additional information on 8760 Inc. is available on the Internet at http://www.8760.com or by contacting Helen Markland (205) 802-7569.
