A second major New York State utility has selected Group 8760's Gas Industry Standards Board (GISB) certified electronic commerce solution for energy transactions over the Internet.
Group 8760 LLC has been awarded a contract to provide its GISBAgent® electronic delivery mechanism to Rochester Gas and Electric Corp. (RG&E). New York State Electric & Gas Corp. also recently selected Group 8760's GISBAgent® solution. Besides being selected by four of the seven electric distribution companies in Pennsylvania's deregulated marketplace, GISBAgent® is being widely adopted in the deregulated New York State market.
"We are pleased to have selected Group 8760's GISBAgent® to meet our needs for a GISB-certified, Internet-based data transfer mechanism," said Paul Ruganis, RG&E vice president for information services. "We chose Group 8760 as a strong partner to help us to bring e-commerce into RG&E's Energy Retail Access program. The use of GISBAgent® will streamline processing of customer requests and transactions as we continue to move into retail competition."
Jim Buccigross, vice president of Group 8760's energy practice, said, "We're very pleased that RG&E considers GISBAgent® the best solution for meeting its Internet electronic data interchange requirements in New York. We're also confident that, like our other customers, RG&E will find additional ways to use GISBAgent® to add value for its trading partners, thus further leveraging its investment in our product." Buccigross is chairman of GISB's Executive Committee and a board member and membership chair of the Utility Industry Group.
GISBAgent® by Group 8760 is the most widely used product for exchanging mission- critical data over the Internet between deregulated gas and electric trading partners. Group 8760's enabling technology, the InsideAgent® component architecture, provides the electronic infrastructure that allows clients to connect directly with customers, suppliers, distributors, manufacturers and other trading partners.
