Group 8760's Gas Industry Standards Board (GISB)-certified electronic commerce solution for natural gas transactions over the Internet has crossed the U.S.-Canadian border for the first time.
Group 8760 LLC has been awarded a contract by Calgary-based Westcoast Energy Pipeline & Field Services to provide its GISBAgent® electronic delivery mechanism to the Canadian company for use in cross-border e-commerce transactions.
Westcoast Energy Inc., which operates a major natural gas pipeline system in Canada, is a partner in numerous pipeline projects-including Maritimes and Northeast, Alliance, and Vector-aimed at bringing Canadian natural gas to U.S. markets.
"We're very pleased that an industry leader like Westcoast Energy chose GISBAgent® as its electronic commerce solution," said Jim Buccigross, vice president of Group 8760's energy practice and chairman of the GISB Executive Committee. "It demonstrates the flexibility of our software and also reinforces the applicability of GISB standards throughout the North American energy market."
Jim Weir, manager of infrastructure for Westcoast Energy Pipeline & Field Services, said, "Group 8760 is a good fit to support our e-commerce strategies. We looked at outsourcing, but Group 8760's software solution proved more cost effective."
Weir added, "Before we made our decision, we asked other Group 8760 clients about the company. They had only good things to say about the Group 8760 products and the people that stand behind them. We're particularly impressed by Group 8760's commitment to the GISB organization."
GISBAgent® is a GISB-certified electronic delivery mechanism for inbound and outbound Internet electronic data interchange (EDI) and other file transport between trading partners over the Internet. Besides being used extensively in the natural gas industry, GISBAgent® has been chosen by four of the seven electric distribution companies in Pennsylvania's deregulated marketplace.
GISBAgent by Group 8760 is the most widely used product for exchanging mission critical data over the Internet between deregulated gas and electric trading partners. Group 8760's enabling technology, the InsideAgent® component architecture, provides the electronic infrastructure that allows clients to connect directly with customers, suppliers, distributors, manufacturers and other trading partners.
